Verse of the Week
(June 17th - June 24th, 2008)

Joshua 14:14-15

"Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Thoughts for the week:

Joshua was telling this to the people. They were heading down a path of destruction- casting idols and just falling into the temptation of the world around them. Joshua had to challenge the people to really choose who or what they were going to serve. You are either going to serve a God that has proven His trustworthiness and has validating Himself or you're going to choose something/someone that is just comfortable to you and that is an imperfect substitute.

Solution for the week:
You will need to decide for yourself what or whom you will serve. Although some might think this is complicated, it really isn't.
I recommend you sitting down one day and just reading through God's Word. Let Him speak to you. Then be in constant prayer and maybe even talk it out with friends and/or family.
